Father’s Day – Multiplied Through Love

I just wanted to reflect on Father’s Day in light of the day tomorrow.  How thankful I am for fathers.

I am so thankful for a father that believed in my brothers, sisters and I  (all 6 of us).  When we young and in school he would encourage us to ask questions.  He even offered to pay us money if we would ask questions.  He would often encourage us and tell us that we could be or do anything we wanted to do & set our minds to.  All of us have gone on to be successful in different walks of life.   We do have a brother & sister that have gone on to heaven ahead of us.  When you look at each one of us we become our father multiplied.

Then there is my husband, business partner and father of our children.   He almost didn’t become a father.   We made a decision in life when most of our peers children were getting married & close to becoming grandparents.  We decided to adopt.  We adopted 2 beautiful children from Ukraine in November of 2001, just after 9-11.  Needless to say they changed our lives.  The reason he had not wanted to be a father was because he did not want to be like his father and he was afraid he would be like him.   Nothing could have been further from the truth.   He is a wonderful father & would do anything for his children.    Again he is being multiplied because of his love.

I am truly thankful for fathers who are multiplying themselves through love.

Some father’s day quotes:

“My father didn’t tell me how to live; he lived, and let me watch him do it. ”   Clarence B. Kelland

“My father gave me the greatest gift anyone could give another person, he believed in me. ”
Jim Valvano

What is Success??

“Success in business requires training and discipline and hard work. But if you’re not frightened by these things, the opportunities are just as great today as they ever were.” David Rockefeller

Blogging is the Key – Why???

Having a blog is critical if you want to get into Social Media.  Think of it as your home.  This is where you can express yourself and others can interact with you.  You can talk about what’s going on, people can visit and see what you’re up to.  So one of the keys to being social is be yourself.  I have heard many call it branding yourself.

The other thing I get excited about is that it is a place where you can share things you have discovered with others.  It makes me think of …

The other day I was watching our 9 year old daughter playing with a friend having a blast.  It’s like they both loved all of the same things and it didn’t matter what they were doing.   They were constantly giggling going from playing dolls, to swimming in the pool, to playing house, they just had fun.  9 hours later they were still begging me to let them stay together longer.  The time had to end but the anticipation of the summer with many more fun days together was almost as exciting as it was to be together.

I think a blog should be a place to be yourself & have fun!!

Social Media What is it??

Social Media can be a lot of fun. You can think of it is having a job where you can have fun while you work.   Here’s a fun diagram of how interconnected all of the types of media can become.

The Social Media

Let’s  take a look at both parts in more detail

First Social – What is social?  I always think of social circles.  So I think of it as one of the primary aspects is relating with people.  To be really good at being social you have to think of other people first before yourself.  What are their likes and dislikes.  How to help them or encourage them.  We often think of social circles which means there are those people  that we can relate to better than others.  It is usually around common interests like sports be it football, soccer, baseball etc.  Look at the comradery fans of a certain team gather together like what we have going on right now at the World Cup Soccer in South Africa.  Look how intense the fans get, not to mention the team members.  It someone scores the thrill and excitement!!  If someone makes a mistake the extreme emotion.

Social can take on so many aspects of relationships whether they are very intimate, just having fun or they can take on a very serious direction as well.  But it all takes some sort of communication be it written or spoken.  For our scenario let’s say it will be written and fun around similar areas of interest.

Media is something that carries a message.  It could be a newspaper, magazines, radio, TV or the internet.   The problem with everything but the internet they are lacking the ability to have interaction a 2-way street.

So what we are going to zero in on is relating on the internet.
